A Sailor’s Tale
Lyrics by Brieve Morison
The wind was strong against the tide
The wave are rolling six feet high
As in this little boat of mine
I sail these changing oceans wide
I have been at sea for many a year
In storms there was so much fear
To calmer waters close and near
Close to the ones that I hold dear
I’ve known girls in many ports
Some came to something to naught
Some damaged goods that I have bought
But disagreement I never sought
In flat calm seas I watch and wait
And I try to anticipate
All the changes small or great
As I listen to the wind’s debate
And now my voyages near their end
There are precious few on whom I can depend
My barometer is my best friend
As to port or starboard I may trend
So wish me the best of luck
Or turn your back and shucks
And let me make my own way
As I sail the sunsets way
